How Korean Point of View handles personal information for enquiries and website use.

Who is responsible for your information

This website is run by Jeong-Kyeong Kim under the name Korean Point of View. She provides Korean tutoring services from British Columbia, Canada. For privacy questions, please contact:

Privacy laws that may apply

This policy is designed around British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Canadian federal privacy law, including PIPEDA, may also apply to personal information handled in interprovincial or international commercial activities. This policy is intended to explain our practices clearly; it is not a substitute for legal advice.

Information we collect

When you submit an enquiry, we collect the information you choose to provide: your name, email address, current Korean level, lesson-length preference, learning goals, and any other message or scheduling information you include.

Cloudflare may process technical request and security information, such as IP address, browser/device information, and security signals, when it provides hosting, security, and anti-abuse services. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 may collect online identifiers and information about how you use the website.

Why we use it

We use personal information for reasonable purposes connected with the tutoring services and this website: responding to an enquiry, discussing lessons, keeping the website and form secure, and improving the site using analytics only where you have consented. We do not use enquiry information for unrelated marketing without separate consent.

Consent and your choices

By submitting the contact form, you consent to our using the information you provide to respond to that enquiry. Analytics is optional and is not loaded unless you actively accept analytics cookies. You may withdraw consent where applicable by contacting us or by changing your Cookie Preferences. Withdrawing consent will not affect processing that has already occurred, and may mean we cannot continue with a particular enquiry or service request.

Contact enquiries and email

Contact-form submissions are validated through a same-origin Cloudflare Worker and protected with Cloudflare Turnstile. Once accepted, the enquiry is sent through a server-side email-delivery service so View can reply. If you email directly, the content of your message and your email address are used to correspond with you. Please avoid including sensitive personal information that is not needed for your enquiry.

Service providers and external services

Cloudflare is used for hosting, security, Turnstile, the contact-form endpoint, and server-side email delivery. Form enquiries are delivered to a Gmail mailbox used by View, so Google processes that email correspondence. Google Analytics 4 is used only after analytics consent. Bookings and payments are completed on Preply, which is an independent service with its own privacy notice and terms; this website does not process card payments.

Cross-border processing

Our providers may process or store information outside British Columbia or Canada, depending on their service infrastructure and your location. This can include Cloudflare and Google services. Provider processing is governed by their applicable service terms, privacy notices, and technical controls, but information processed in another jurisdiction may be subject to that jurisdiction's laws.

How long we keep information

Information will be kept only for as long as reasonably needed to respond to an enquiry, resolve an issue, meet legal obligations, or establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim. Cloudflare security and service records are retained under the applicable Cloudflare service configuration.

Security safeguards

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including HTTPS, Cloudflare security controls, Turnstile anti-abuse checks, access-limited services, and server-side handling of contact-form delivery. No website or email service can be guaranteed completely secure.

Access, correction, and withdrawal of consent

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, or ask questions about our handling of your information. Contact the Privacy Contact above and include enough detail for us to identify your enquiry. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You can also withdraw analytics consent at any time through Cookie Preferences.

Questions and complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You may also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, the provincial privacy regulator for private-sector organisations in British Columbia.

Updates to this policy

We may update this policy when the website, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page.
